Friends! Join Ess Ess on Saturday, Feb 25 at the Phaidon Store in Soho for a night with Alberto Toscano, Jeff Kinkle and Lars Iyer.

There will be a little something nice to eat. A nice assortment of drinks…the more the merrier…bring something to add to “the bar” if you like. And more reasons to brave the streets including readings and talks by Alberto, Jeff and Lars.

 ALBERTO TOSCANO teaches sociology at Goldsmiths, university of London. He is the author of Fanaticism: On the Uses of an Idea (Verso, 2010) and an editor of the journal Historical Materialism.

JEFF KINKLE is a writer and translator based in New York. He earned a PhD from the Centre for Cultural Studies, Goldsmiths, University of London in 2010. He is a co-founder of the independent press Andperseand and is a member of the SITE Magazine editorial board.

LARS IYER is the author of the novels Spurious, Dogma, and Exodus (forthcoming), as well as two books on Maurice Blanchot and a blog, Spurious. He is a lecturer in philosophy at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Jamieson Webster is a psychoanalyst in New York City. She teaches at Eugene Lang College and New York University. She is the author of The Life and Death of Psychoanalysis: On Unconscious Desire and its Sublimation (Karnac) and is a woman more sinning than sinned against.

Simon Critchley is Hans Jonas Professor at the New School for Social Research, author of the forthcoming Impossible Objects (Polity) and The Faith of the Faithless (Verso) and is a man more sinned against than sinning.

Donald Breckenridge is the author of more than a dozen plays as well as the novella Rockaway Wherein (Red Dust, 1998) and the novels 6/2/95 (Spuyten Duyvil, 2002) and You Are Here (Starcherone Books, 2009). In addition, he is the fiction editor of The Brooklyn Rail, co-editor of the InTranslation website and editor of the The Brooklyn Rail Fiction Anthology (Hanging Loose Press, 2006). His novel This Young Girl Passing has just been published by Autonomedia. He is working on his fourth novel.

Erica Ehrenberg is a graduate of Amherst College and the Creative Writing MFA Program at NYU. Her poems have appeared in journals and anthologies including The New Republic, Slate, jubilat, Octopus, The St. Ann’s Review, Dancing With Joy (Crown, 2007) and Everyman’s Library Pocket Poets: Poems About Horses (Knopf, 2009). Born and raised in New York City, she has received fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and from Stanford University where she was a Wallace Stegner Fellow in Poetry. She currently lives in Brooklyn and is completing her first collection of poetry, Bruno Goes to the City of the Night to Plead for His Possessions.
